Katie is a Bozemanite who, amongst other things, grew up playing under the big sky and eating good, home-cooked food, and who only learned to appreciate these things after leaving home. Katie earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a masters degree in Environmental Humanities, and she’s happy to be home in Montana again. She has long been drawn to local agriculture due to its intersection of personal health, environmental health, and economic health, and has been searching for the best way to engage this interest professionally. She’s spent time on small-scale farms and in community gardens, working for nonprofits, collecting data on endangered plants, freelance writing, and most recently, managing her favorite bookstore. She’s delighted to now have the chance to bring her management experience and passion for local food to Root Cellar Foods. When she’s not working, you can usually find Katie in her garden, on a trail, at a brewery, or curled up with a book.
